How the Acumen Braking System works:

ACUMEN’s exclusive “sensored hitch” detects the braking forces demanded by your trailer when you apply brake pressure.  These “FST” sensors are only found on Acumen’s FST-equipped hitches and are capable of detecting even the smallest differences in braking force, and they do it hundreds of times per second – without any manual input or tweaking from you.   

Acumen’s unique “Data Link” then transmits these critical force readings from the hitch’s FST sensors to the Acumen Brake Command Module (located near the driver).  Acumen is the only system on the market today that continuously transmits critical force readings from your trailer to the Brake Command Module

The Acumen Brake Module then receives the “Brake Force Data” from the FST sensored-hitch (via Acumen’s exclusive Data Link) and calculates the precise amount of braking power required by your trailer’s brakes to maximize your trailer’s braking performance.
